Join a group of beginning and intermediate level stand-up comics for this course on the basics of stand-up.
You’ll learn about creating material, working the crowd, editing material, and developing your own style.
Cheryl first began writing comedic routines for herself as a mime, in 1979. In 1982 she wrote her first standup comedy routine, and within two months had embarked on her career as a touring comic. She worked in most of the US for the following 13 years – first as an opening act, moving quickly to middle act and for her last five years as a headliner. Working clubs across the nation, she honed the craft live and onstage, professionally for over 1000 shows. She has taught standup comedy classes in festivals, in her own theater in NYC, in Comedy Festivals, including the Funny Women Fest in Chicago and NYC for more than 20 years.

I just wanted to say your notes were VERY valuable for my open mic set at Brew tonight. I’m still buzzing about it. I got some really solid audience engagement and the notes about body language really helped elevate that bit. I absolutely love how much use I’ve already been able to get out of that one session. So glad you decided to start the class. I really think it’s taking my skills to the next level and making me consider elements of the performance I never even thought about.
