Gender, a Performance Project – Written by Cheryl King and Ashley Lauren Rogers- trans woman, playwright and actor. This 75-minute evening of sketches, monologues and videos explores how our ideas about gender affect our lives. A gentle tongue-in-cheek attitude prevails throughout, in comedic bits about coming out, PGP’s (preferred gender pronouns), workplace and facility discrimination, identity, and the misconceptions regarding life as a transgender/gender non-binary individual. The 10-person cast is diverse- including actors of multiple ethnicities, ages and gender identifications. Special appearances by Rain Dove, and Ericka Hart, adult sex- ed educator.

Gender, A Performance Project, is made possible in part with public funds from the Manhattan Community Arts Fund, supported by the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council and administered by Lower Manhattan Cultural Council.
